I know only two people that have the Dell Jukebox. Andy (el Hombre de Negativo) and Alexa. I have given Alexa's email to Andy so they can have some sort of exchange of their thoughts and ideas about this Dell product. It should be interesting to see how it works out.
It should be important to note that although I am a strong supporter of Dell, I own a 40 GB 3G iPod. It is the first Apple product I have owned and I am happy with my purchase. I do not foresee myself purchasing a Macintosh computer in the future.
Looks like IBM is planning to sell their personal computing business so they can focus on the [more lucrative] corporate server business. I feel that is big news. Yes, that would bring us to the end of an era in an industry that IBM helped invent. Ohh well. That kind of reminds me of Sony and TiVo in a way. Sony revolutionized the portable music player in the 1980's. With difficult competition from the iPod (as well as other solid state music players) Sony is struggling to re-invent themselves and get back into a game they created. Good luck with that Sony. I was a huge MiniDisc supporter for years. There is a time and place for it. It is a great product. I could even give you the "It is really popular in Europe and Asia" speech, but I will not. I have invested a great deal of money into the product with the purchase of 4 portable players in my life (Sony MZ-R3, Sony MZ-R70, Sharp MD-MS702, Sony MZ-N707). The reason why I left was partially because of the Musicmatch/OpenMG software you had to rely so heavily on to manage your music. Do you honestly think Sony has any business writing computer software? Regarding the TiVo pararell: TiVo is now loosing out to MSO's (Comcast, Charter, Cox, RCN, etc.) who are providing DVR technology on their own devices (made by Scientific Atlanta and Motorola). My Comcast DVR on my Motorola STB is money. It is probaly 1000 times faster than a TiVo system - and it is built into the GUI.
