I am in Munich, Germany working at the International Broadcast Center for the 2006 FIFA World Cup. I have eaten mostly pretzels, Fanta, cheese and Haribo. Highlights include the plastic goal posts in the urinals, the beer, our state of the art phone system and the ladies from TV Azteca. I have had the opportunity to see Saudi Arabia vs. Tunisia here in Munich and England vs. Trinidad and Tobago in Nuremberg. I hope to see Brasil take on the Socceroos of Australia Sunday night with my good friend Emily Pollard who is in town. The IBC is an interesting place; there is not a true feeling of sporting culture, as the stadium is located on the other side of the city far removed from the IBC. A company called HBS provides the world feed to every TV station across earth. They are of course streaming 20 of the games via DVB-H to 3G UMTS/HSDPA handsets of several European carriers. That's it for now. More pictures to come.
